Default lifting a 5.3

silly question here but!!
where would you position a chain to lift a 5.3 with a engine crane ??? im installing the engine into my c10 this week with the transmission i was thinking about the rear driver cly head (ALLOY HEADS SEAM SCARY) and around the EGR ??? ANY HELP GUYS WOULD BE GREAT!!

Sorry, I haven't got a clue. The last two times I had to lift an engine (neither one a 5.3), they still had the factory lifting lugs attached to the motor. I'm just lending my support so you don't think it's a silly question. I'm sure some of the more experienced guys will chime in soon.

from the heads is no issue at least for me. I have also used the trans mount bolt holes andthe bolts frm the front acc brackets. no problem as well.

id bolt the chain to the back of driver or pass side head. and put another bolt in the front of the head opposite of where you bolted the back bolt.

i used one of them lever' and bolted the chain to the front of both head and the both of the exhaust bolt holes as far rearward as possible.....

I have also just ued a chain from back driver side to the front passenger side..

they both worked ok.

You can just about use any bolt hold, just make sure it is fully secure and not just loose. .else you will strip out the threads.
