Default 351 headers in a fox swap ?

Hey guys,

I looked all over the place and couldn't find the right keywords, but I know there have been threads about using 351 headers on an lsx.

I was going to go custom, but am running out of money and can't afford $1200 for 2" custom headers, but have no problem cutting the flanges off my 2" 351 headers I have sitting in my garage doing nothing and modifying them for free.

Is it as simple as cutting off the flanges?

Keep in mind, I have an aje k-member with a motorplate and being I have a jerico, I don't have a normal crossmember and can put **** whereever I need it. I have room for days under my hood. I also have a custom steering shaft and a pinto rack, so it is very thin and have plent of room for headers around that as well.

thanks for you help.

I would assume so. I'm doing the same thing with BBC headers in my 73 impala, 1 3/4" primaries to a 3" collector. Just going to have to cut the primaries complete off, from the flange and collector, mock them up on the LS flange, tack em, and then reweld the collector.

Ya all you will need to do is cut them off and weld them onto the ls1 flange and bolt them on. Should clear everything.

They should be pretty much a bolt on affari. My Midlengths fit like a damn GLOVE. Apparently, the guy I bought them from said they didn't fit his 351 for ****.

I used the BBK 351W swap headers in my Maverick. The tubes line up perfectly, but you'll need to "round out" the pipes as the Ford ports are square. I used a pipe nipple as a mandrel and hammered them round. Be sure to mock them up first because you can really move things around to clear obstacles a whole lot easier before welding!

My 2" headers are round rube and round flanges.... we are thinking about just tapping the heads and not welding new flanges...

I am going to be having a set of addapter flanges made to bolt the ford diagonal bolt headers to a ls1 head.

I plan on trying to get the flanges drawn up next week if my guy dosn't go to the Shakedown at e-town.

I should know more next weekend.

You might even be able to slot the holes in the flanges, several are close enough that I could actually bolt the headers up with two bolts and the tubes were off by 1/4" or so...

That was another option we thought about, but my headers have the wide bolt pattern and it looks like we can just tap the heads.

I am surprised no one has made an adapter flange yet

Wide or diagonal. Wide is going to be a issue. Diag should not be a problem.

that bolt pattern looks like no problem
I hope to have a set drawn up next week and should be able to get them cut in the next few.
