Inline fuel pumps good for DD?
I was shocked to see that my '85 RX7 GSl-SE uses an external inline pump from the factory. For some reason I just assumed it was going to be an intank pump since it was factory EFI. Really puts a wrinkle in my LS1 plans because now I have to make tough decisions for the fuel system.
Replace the stock pump with a Bosch 044?
(Please don't suggest a different brand. It's going to be Bosch because they're super quiet and reliable. This will be a 100% street car and DD for several months out of the year so reliability is most important.)
Or try to use a Bosch 044 in tandem with the stock pump? I don't know if I have room to do so but it might be the best option.
The stock pump/system is good for about 45psi. The LS1 needs ~58psi under all conditions. The Bosch 044 is good for ~72psi, but I would hate to strain it having it trying to pull fuel and push fuel at the same time. I'll be using the Corvette filter/FPR combo up near the engine.
What do you guys think?
) and i'll just add an additional one. Pulls little current too.No, i don't know if it's similar to the 044 or the 910, it could even be one of those. From memory when i installed it 3 years ago it was an alloy cylinder about 2.5'' diameter 4'' long, inlet and outlet on opposite ends, 2 nuts like a starter solenoid for + and ground.
