Default Ports above oil filter?

I have a 6.0 out of a 2004 Silverado. On the pan, above the oil filter, are two open ports. Are these for an oil cooler set-up? Can I block them off, and use one for a turbo oil feed? Thanks, Chris.

it should have a blockoff from the factory that looks like this

if its not there then someone removed it. yes, they are for an oil cooler. just get the oil blockoff plate, drill thru it with a 1/4 or 5/16 drill and tap it for 1/8 npt and use it for your oil supply, like so :

Is that the GM part number 1255 1595?? I need one too.
Is this a good place to hook-up an oil pressure gauge if an oil cooler isn't needed??

dont quote me on the pn. its looks like it may be. you CAN put a pressure gauge on there since that supply is pressurised. matter of fact, I plan to use a 1/8 npt tee and run the turbo supply AND oil gauge off there

Not all of the bypass plate are shaped like that. some are just rounded (CTS-V, some trucks and others) and do not have the extention that makes it easy to tap into. some are setup for oil coolers.

Pass threads have not turned up any part numbes for these bypass plates.

And NO, u can not block it off, it need to pass oil from port to port as part of the system.
