dual or single plane? looking for an experienced answer...not a theory, hopefully.
What would perform better all around on a STOCK '05 5.3l with a carb and MSD 6010/6012 box- a single plane or dual plane??
It's going in a 2wd '86 shortbed.

For your application, a dual plane will provide a better signal to the carb, especially at lower rpms.[Cleaner idle, better low rpm throttle response.]
A single is designed to operate at a higher rpm range.Here's a link to the Edelbrock site. Take a look at the operating ranges of the various intakes... Some significant differences.

I concur with Old Geezer. I have a 5.3L with a Comp Cams XR269HR in my 911. I am using a dual plane with a Holley 600 cfm vacuum secondary carb. Even in a relatively light car(2800 lbs) with a relatively stiff gear (3.88), this combination performs admirably.
