99 5.3 or 08 lmg 5.3?
I am just shopping around MN junkyards and have come across two different low mile 5.3's, one a gen III and the other gen IV with AFM.
99 has 60K on it $450, 08 LMG has 29K $500.
I don't know what issues I would run into with the AFM, as I am putting this in a 71 Nova and want to run a LS1 intake, mild cam (GM hot cam or ls6) and want to make sure I don't run into a mess.
I know the LMG should have the better heads, but if I switch over to an ls1 intake (can I do that?) can I run a GTO wiring harness? Will this motor will have the 52 reluctor ring? And if so, will that limit my wiring harness/computers?
It seems like the 99 motor will be easiest, but the 08 will have better heads, and an aluminum block that will have the extra hole for the f-body accessory drive setup, but is it really worth the hassle?
