Default L76 with T56

Greetings - I'm new to this forum and have tried searching on this topic but couldn't find anything...

I've been told that the L76 with active fuel management (Displacement on Demand) can only be used in conjunction with the 6 speed automatic because the two PCMs receive input from each other - Is this true?

Is it possible to use a T56 with a L76 and preserve the DOD features for fuel economy?

Can anyone share any experience and what it would take to make it work?

If there's any experts near Tampa Florida that could assist I would love a recommendation.

GM only ships L76 AFM/DOD motors that run the AFM with autos. Same with the L99 in the 10 Camaro. AFM/VVT: auto only.

They dont run smooth enough with the manual trans.

It may be possible to get it working with manual via a tuning tool like EFIlive with a manual, just depends on how much you want to get it done.

And you will need at the very least a brake booster pressure sensor. Without this AFM wont activate.

What does that thing have to do with the Brakes?

When you hit the Brakes it shuts the AFM off?

Low vac = low power assist = AFM off to get the vac level back up, and it doesnt enable unless the power assist vac level is high enough. Less cylinders = higher load per cylinder = more throttle = higher manifold pressure which is less vac.

I know this is a way old thread, but I'm wondering if the AFM will work if the L76 and trans were put in a hotrod with hydroboost braking rather than a vacuum booster?
