Pins listed are to the CTS for the PCM. It wont run your gauge

Using a TPS connector and a 98 Fbody CTS, there is a wire to run your gauge

That 3-wire Temp Sensor will keep the 2 PCM wires in their places, and the 3rd is an analog output to the Gauges.

Top wire..the single one.

The 2 that are on the factory Connector go into the 2 Wires that are on the 3-wire connector in the same spots, the 3rd single wire goes to the Gauges.

Good info in this post. So you can do away with putting the extra ECT sender in the passenger head and just use this 98 Fbody sensor in the drivers head using that TPS connector? Sounds good. Thanks.

What Kevin has is a 98 stand-alone harness that has been re-pinned to use a 99+ PCM. He is still using the 98 style temp sensor if I'm not mistaken. Everything is hooked up to the PCM and the car is running. We just need a signal to hook up to the Dakota Digital Instrument panel.

Just a note, I had a 98 harness that was modded by Speartech in my Mustang. I then re-pinned it to use the 99+ pcm. I kept the same 98 temp sensor...worked fine,So it had to pull off of the pcm.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only diff. between the 98 sensor and the 99+ is that the ground is made through the body of the sensor on the 98 . Thats the reason for one less terminal .

^^1998 has the 3 Terminals..2 to the PCM, one to the Gauges. Both Sensors are grounded in the PCM, the reason for the 3 wire was cause it's still an analog gauge, 1999-up was digital gauges so the Temp Signal is sent in the Serial Data Wire.

Pretty much..2 wires to the PCM and the third to the Gauges.

When he told me that part it helped..that's a good piece of info to know. Is the Temp Sensor still a 3-pin though?

Anyone know where I can find the wire color for the factory gauge cluster that runs coolant temp?
