Default Engine mounts, LS->1.gen, Help needed!!

Hi everybody.

I know that this subject has been covered in most angles, but still want to bring it up. You can call me a lazy newbie

Anyway here it goes. I have -68 camaro and I have 2001 T/A LS1+T56 engine/tranny going in. I am going to retain the origanal style steering, just upgrade it to quick box. I am really wondering with engine mounts. There are so many to choose from. I would like to get away as easy as possible (and in reasonoble budget). So which ones could save me from hacking the f-body oilpan. I was thinking the Hedman Kit (55813), it not cheap. On the other hand, you get a lot for the money. They replied to my question as follows:

"According to our past experiences you should be able to retain the factory original cast oil pan for the F-body Camaro/Firebird, but only if you are using the factory original engine mounting location across the factory original crossmember. In some extreme cases it may be necessary to use a custom oil pan or the GTO LS1 oil pan."

For some reason I am not convinced. Also donīt really need the headers and maybe not even the tranny crossmember. Is there anybody with firsthand experience on similar problem and what was the solution?

So basically I am looking for a budget minded engine mounts that I could use with 1. gen OEM steering lingage and 2001 f-body OEM oilpan (without hacking anything).

Hoping to hear from you gearheads soon. All help is much appriciated.

Cheers from Finland,

Jarno
