I would suggest dumping the 98 PCM and sourcing a 99-04 unit. Info and tuning is much more available for the later

My $2000 planned swap has doubled in cost so far and the motor isn't even in the car yet. Just be aware, because if you already spent the cash on a 98 harness and people are suggesting to buy a 99-up harness there is an added cost not planned on for example.
It's the little things that add up, the engines are cheap.
I used lt1swap.com for the info needed to re-work my harness, it took a whole day but it turned out nice.
