Default Jeep Liberty

Am I nuts or what? I bought my wife a Liberty back when they first came out 'cause she thought they were cute. It was a POS as far as the motor and trans and the brakes were very inadequate. We didn't keep it long. Now I am thinking "find a 2 wheel drive version, drop it 2/4, and shove a LS1 in there" I think it would make a pretty cool daily driver, what do you guys think? I could upgrade the brakes and put some nice wheels on it and it should be a sleeper.

I'll bet it would be a PITA with motor mounts and engine positioning. Liberties have that unibody crap and it's not easy to work with, but it's probably doable. If you haven't already, check out the performance section of Jeeps Unlimited and see what if anyone has done it there.

I don't know if i would call a liberty a death trap. I like my cherokee better, but my gf's liberty has been growing on me. I just don't feel safe in a car.
I am running an lt1 im my cherokee, i am working on putting in the ls1, it is a unibody.

Well, I based it on my Old 97 Jeep. If you were going around a corner and had to apply the brakes, then you had best be wanting some road rash. It about flipped on me twice. Of course my superior driving skill saved my ***, but that's a scarry feeling.

If it's better footed that a Wrangler than I will retact the statement, but it looks like the same setup to me. I bet the drivers side visor had a warning on it about rolling.

Of course a 2300 lb Sebring MX with an LS1 in it is a sure footed coffin.
