Default Help on starting a conversion.

My friend just ulled out a 98 Trans Am engine, transmission, and pcm and put it in his 72 chevy c10 pickup. We still have the donor car. What else do we need to hook up to make it run. We are dying to make it run and don't know what else to hook up. There are 3 connectors left not connected. Any help is appreciated.

We need alot more information than that. Those three plugs probably connect the console harness to the pcm. Which connects to the bcm. You are probably going to need a vats bypass module; are you using the ignition switch from the donor car? Make sure you are getting power to everything(starter, ignition, etc.). With your key in the on position try turning ont the stereo or something that comes on with key only in on position; that way we know if you ignition switch has power. If your pcm and bcm have power but the motor is not cranking its probably VATS; which keeps the starter from turning and injectors not pumping.

Honestly It'd be well worth the cash to have speartech make you a harness, trying to make your stock one work is going to be a nitemare..

When I did my swap I purchased the wiring harness for the engine compartment (has the 2 fuse/relay boxes) because the 2 harnesses plug into each other and then I removed the circuits I didn't need and wired the ones I needed into the Astro's harnesses. You also need the VATS bypass as mentioned earlier unless you buy a programmer to turn the feature off in the PCM. I purchased LS1 Edit but I started out with the bypass ($25).

I would bet one of those connections goes behind the starter. (Crank position sensor I think) I thought that I had them all in also but I missed that one. I would agree about getting someone to do you harness. I attempted to do my own but I think I did more harm then good. Checkout Dynatechmotorsports.com, they are in Whitier, CA I think you may like the price. They did mine, and it works fine. I heard that Speartech produces the best product and I am getting ready to send out a harness to them. I will compare and pass on the findings.
