Hurst Hairy project, need thoughts
Hello, I am new to this forum, but would like your guy's opinion on an idea I had for what to do with my 1966 Oldsmobile. The original Hurst Hairy was a 66 Olds that was powered by two toronado V8's. I think it would be awesome to create a new, modern interpretation of this car. My idea is to stick two ls7's in, each fitted with the carburetor intake, and capable of between 500-650 hp. The front engine would most likely have to be in the transverse position. Heres my question, is there a manual fwd transmission that can stand up to this kind of power? Also, would it be better to mount the rear engine transverse as well, or go with a transaxle. I would like to be able to have it be a stick shift, but can settle a sequential paddle shift if necessary. Anyway, I'd like to hear your thoughts on this.
