Default temp sender sits back in the adaptor

I got the adaptor in the link bellow to adapt my temp sender to 12mm for the hole on the back of the pass head. I am using a regular 1/8" npt electric sender.
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ATM-2277/

the through hole was too small so I had to drill it out some, now the sender fits in but it sits a little over a 1/4" back when when tightened. pic bellow

will this give accurate readings even though the tip of the sender will not be directly in the waster stream? what have other done with this adapter?

no thoughts on this? I know auto meter makes a special sender for this adapter (just found out ), is this what every one uses?

Did mine the same way....works fine......shouldn't be an issue at all, and it's better than nothing....

I drilled and tapped the water pump, next to the alternator.
