Default 5.3 and t5? possible?

i have a first gen s-10 im about to swap a 5.3 in. I also have a camaro T5. Is it possible to adapt them together? I have a 1pc rear seal 153 tooth flywheel from a vette that i used on my my old style 350 with this T5. i can use this flywheel or get one from an ls1 if thats what i need. let me know if this can be done and what it takes. thanks in advance for any answers.

yea I think adapting a 5.3L and T5 is possible, but I don't think the T5 is strong enough to handle the power of 5.3 engine!

yea, your going to be pushing the T5. but as long as you dont hammer on it too hard you should be fine.

you wont be able to use that flywheel, it has a different bolt pattern, it wont bolt up to the 5.3. find a flywheel out of a 6.0 truck with the 5 speed behind it.

The GM V8 T5s were rated near 300ft/lbs, world class ones are better.
Forget about a V6 T5, only rated for 200ft/lbs.
You'll need an LS1 flywheel/clutch. But those wont fit in the Camaro T5 bell housing. Check with Keisler if their 621 LS bellhousing will fit a T5 (input shaft length, bearing hole, bolt pattern). If so, and you have a 26 spline input shaft, it should work like any other GM trans mated to an LS.

I had a WC T-5 behind a built ~350hp SBC and never had an issue. Like anything, if you abuse it, it will eventually break.

If that's what suits your build best, go for it.

5.3 with a t5 in a light car will work just fine. If its a heavy car with a lot of power, don't expect to be powershifting like others have said. Trans is not bad, just isn't a T56 or TKO600.

thanks for the input guys! It is a stock 5.3(i may put a small cam) and a good v8 world class T5. i had this trans behind my old sbc with about 400hp plus a 150 shot and it held up. i actually shattered my auburn posi unit one night at the track from leaving at 4200 and the trans never skipped a beat. but now its gonna be daily driven with the 5.3.
