Default LQ9 engine builds... opinions needed

I found my self a LQ9 block and im looking to build it up to go in my 62' GMC. I wanna run a carb to keep with era of truck. Looking for a lumpy idol, real V8 power, and possibly bolt up to an auto. The block is bored .030" over. Any ideas of what to build the engine with is appreciated, just not sure where to start.

Look into swapping some l92 or ls3 heads on it. Stock they aren't to expensive but will flow close to ported ls1/ls6 heads. But you are gonna need a cam to match the heads.

Yea its pretty much a bolt on. I am doing a lq4 with ls3 heads and intake. I had Pat G spec me a cam out. Just use the search there are a few on here that have done it. It seems to be pretty popular,.

You can get new LS3 heads from PacePerformance for $329.ish EACH IIRC. Toss on a EDelbrock Performer RPM or Victor JR mani. I would think with your budget, you should be able to toss in a 4.0" stroker kits too. When money permits. maybe a FAST EZ EFI and maintain your "old school" looks with reeping the benifits of modern fuel injection. Just a thought.

Goodluck on your build and take pics

Jim
