Default Help me build my motor.

First things first... I have a 02 Pontiac Firebird I'm ganna do a motor swap on. Currently it has a 3.8 V6 in it. I know there's alot of small stuff that needs to be replaced (cradle, trans, fuel pump, suspension, radiator, ect). I've chosen to take a 5.3L Iron Block truck motor and have it bored out to a 6.2L

I want as much horse power as I can get and run on 87 Octane. Idealistically around 400 - 425 HP at the FLYWHEEL, more if possible but that might be a bit demanding as is for the octane / compression

How does this setup sound?

6.2L Block
L92 Heads
Mild to Moderate Cam (What lift should I go with?)

-- If this isnt a good setup, can you give me a better idea?

Question, Can a 5.3L block (3.78") be safely bored to 4.06" ? Putting sleeves in to the 5.3L block is costly and many not take it anyway ?!?

L92 Heads would be good. Starting with a 224* (or bigger) cam will get you close if the head, intake and exhaust are in line to be making 400+ HP.

IMO...would be a better idea to either start with a Iron 6.0L block first. (LQ4 or LQ9) if your on a budget.

The 5.3L is an Iron Block, didnt think that required sleeves... but yea an LQ4 / LQ9 would probably be a wiser idea...

The cost to build the 5.3 will rack up faster than a 6.0 drop out with heads and cam. Add some long tubes and you should def reach your goal.
