LS1-LT1 swap, how can I read codes?
Question: how do I check ODB2 engine codes when my car has a ODB1 plug in? I think its a sensor problem but don't know how I can read codes on my engine swap.
I have a 1994 z28 that I put an LS1 into a year or so ago, engine hooked up to 1994 body, guages, etc with speartech harness. Has ran great, but has recently started dying on me at stoplights after about 20 min driving. She just putters out and dies then won't start back up for a minute or two. Then runs like crap until I can get her home by keeping gas pressed when idle to keep from dying. Then runs smooth the next day for 20 min....dies, limp home.... Still runs great full throttle though, doesn't feeli like I lost power.
Car has new fuel filter, plugs, wires, oil.
IAT tests .5ohms, injectors test 13ohms
Put in 255 walboro pump 5 months ago, can't find a fuel pressure guage to fit 2002 fuel rail properly...might try chevy house.
Thanks for any help or input,
Kyle

cool, sounds simple. I was worried it would be impossible, I've searched before and nothing turned up.
Hopefully I'll find a ODB2 port pretty easy. Thanks again

If it's our harness it already has the port integrated into the harness (unless someone cut it off).
That's part of the group of connectors/wiring that comes thru the firewall hole.

Guess I cut the OBD2 off before I sent the harness?? Definitely don't have one under there. Harness worked/works great though.
Got an OBD2 ordered, $2.00 part, shouldn't be hard to wire from OBD1 to OBD2.
Still can't find anyone that sells a fuel gauge to fit the fuel rail...Chevy dealer and autozone stores said individuals can't buy them.
Problem fixed: was vapor-locking due to newly installed catalytic converters heating up nearby fuel lines...insulated them really good and runs fine.
