driveshaft question...
what is the "safezone" of the driveshaft yoke??? i have maybe 2 inches going into the transmission...and 2 1/2 inches exposed...is this still safe for driving???i've driven around the block with it and it feels fine to me....but for a piece of my own mind...took it off and brought it back to the shop that i got it done at...he wanted 85 to lengthen and balance...cheaper then the 150-160 i was being quoted by other shops...but still too much for my budget...
i'll take pix later tonite...since i'm no expert in how much is enuff and not enuff...so i figure i post here and ask...
As far as how much is still in the trans.. depends on how much travel the rear susupension make the yoke travel. If it is not too much and your not applying to much power through it.. it might be ok.. but with less contact on the yoke/output shaft.. you have a smaller area of contact to handle the output which might cause premature failure.
the driveshaft guy told me its good to have 1 inch gap from yoke to tranny...
