5.3 alt plug
5.3 alt plug I've run into a problem with my alternator wiring on my 5.3. The engine and all accessories came from a dbw 5.3, not quite sure of the year. I'm running it as a dbc setup. The harness and pcm for a 99-02 truck. The problem is that the alt plug on the harness is a 4pin and the plug on the back of the alt is a 2pin. Anyone know how to make this work without having to buy new alt?
I may have a 2 pin plug that I am cutting off, so I can put a 4 pin on. I will have to check this weekend, and get back to you. I can send it out next week if it is the correct 1 & you still want it.

I just ran into this I had a harness with a 2 pin plug. I had to go to that style of alternator my old one was a 4 pin as well. The new style 2 pin uses a currnt control system for operation that mounts around a battery cable. You'll need the older style alternator. Came on 97 up 4.3 s10s and full size 5.7 and early 4.8 and 5.3 trucks.
Thanks "Crosstraining" for the offer, but after looking around my shop I realized that the 8100 Vortec thats been sitting in the corner for the past 2yrs had the 4plug alternator on it, and it fits the 5.3 bracket, so that saved me a coin for now. My next question is, the wires for the plug are inside the harness which has been reworked already, so will i still need to splice the plugs wire and add the 470ohm resistor?
