LSX into Porsche 928 Completed
Hoping to get to a dyno in the next 3 or 4 weeks to set a baseline and then start thinking about mods to drive toward my goal of 400 hp!

I will post more pictures soon.

Videos would be cool if you ever get the chance. There's a 928 in the parking garage at work running aftermarket mufflers and it's a head turner. Yours takes that to a whole new level.

I was looking at doing a 6.0 swap into a 928 as well. The one issue was the auto trans and TV cable with the DBW TB. Looks like you used the 928 TV linkage to actuate the 5.3 manual TB.
I've been looking for a 5 speed to avoid the issue.
Also, what rear end ratio are you running? The 83-88 models have a 2.2:1 which should work well with the 6.0s torque.
Are you running the 5.3 power steering pump?
And are you running AC, if so, which compressor and does it fit in the stock location?

Good luck with your conversion. I would recommend a 5 speed. They are out there since most folks aren't interested in a $10,000+ engine rebuild cost and sell them for low prices.
What does the 928 weigh?
I think I read somewhere that it's best to get ones (if they are available for the right price that is) that are newer than like 88-90 (??) Is there any particular reason?
Why did you pick the 928 over a 944?
What is an S4 vs. a standard 928?
Chassis wise, what should I look for in a good donor car? What are the trouble areas? they seem kinda complicated.
The S4 is a later model (86 or 87)with more HP with a 5.0l motor (around 315hp if I remember correctly) and slightly more aggressive styling.
Cool project! looks factory!
At 3200lbs this 928 should be a DEPENDABLE sleeper.
Please place more pics out here for us enthusiasts!
I have not decided if I'm going to do the 928 or 944. I do a lot of hiway driving so I'm looking at the 944 turbo with a 3.28 rear end (with early 5th gear) or a 5 speed 83-88 928 with the 2.2 rear. I'm guessing a 6.0 400hp motor will move the 928 pretty well. My 68 vette weighs about the same and my LQ9 can break the rear end loose in most gears.
A couple questions, which exhaust manifolds did you use? I've seen modified shortys for the 944 but nothing on the 928.
Do you know if the bell housing/torque tube adapter is the same for the 944 and 928?
It looks like RH uses an Autokraft pan with a notch. I was wondering if the LH8/Hummer H3 pan would fit, unmodified. It looks a little deeper but about 1 1/2" shorter.

I have a close friend who is just getting started on his 944 Turbo LS1 conversion. It is a 5-speed. I am looking forward to getting together once his is complete to see how the two cars compare.
I used stock 2000 Corvette exhaust manifolds, for now, just because of cost. I plan to have a set built to fit. I live in NASCAR country and there are several highly skilled header builders I plan to talk with. A friend had a set made for his Supra with a LS3 Lingenfelter motor and it screams. 450 at the rear wheels! The 944 Turbo is fitted with a set of modified shortys.
I will check out the bell housing and see if there are differences. Obviously the first difference I am aware of is that his car is a 5-speed and mine is an automatic.
Not sure about the oil pan. I can tell you it is a tight fit whatever it is. And you MUST run a oil filter relocation setup which is PITA!
BTW-I just installed a Scangauge II unit to monitor all the engine parameters which are very solid. 187 degree thermostat is working well with the stock 928 radiator.
