Default LS1 Porsche 928

Soon I will be starting this project and hopefully finishing before Xmas.

Original Porsche engine is over 500 lbs and 100 or more HP less than an LS1.

Good luck! I just finished my conversion of an LM7 Silverado engine into my 1985 928. Automatic transmission with limited slip. It's a blast to drive now that the heavy, low torque Porsche motor is out of there!

If you need any advise I will be more than happy to let you know where I ran into issues and how I overcame them.

Ovrall not a bad swap, pretty straight forward.

I realize this is a 5 month old thread . . . UPDATE ???

On thing that I am concerned about . . .

PORSCHE's are usually close to 50/50 weight distribution, front & rear, from the factory.

The LS1 is probably 150 lb or more LIGHTER than the original PORSCHE 5.0L V8 . . . There may be some EVIL handling characteristics, if your car ends up weight-biased to the REAR . . .

Even a true "50/50" car (the PORSCHE 911 comes to mind) can be a real BEAR to drive aggressively, as it can INSTANTLY transfer from Understeer to Oversteer and vice-versa, without warning . . . BE CAREFUL ! ! !

My Datsun 240z went slightly tail heavy by the time I ditched the iron block in line 6 for an all aluminum LS2 and added a heavier rear end. The rear weight bias seems to help put down power. I would call the handling anything but evil.
