Default true or false

Can you use any 4l60e 93->up on a 5.3L ? I am asking about the computer being able to run it. Are the pinouts the same? As far as the tq convertor spacer goes that is not the issue.
I have an 01 5.3L with the stock harness already cut and modified for a standalone and I am looking for a 4l60e. I heard that any 4l60e can work. True or flase?

i think that is a true statement. i bet if you ask this question in the transmission section you'd get a definet answer!

I believe those statements would be false. In 95-96 they went to the obd2 operating system. There are actually several variations of the 4l60e (between 4x4, v6, ls). I think if you are want a four speed a 4l60 (no e) or a 700r4 would be a better choice. You do need to go with a lock up converter with these and will need to use crank spacer like with the older trannies.

This ^^^ is True. Pre-'99 (and few 2000's) 4L60E trannies require a spacer like any other SBC transmission.

For example, I have an 4L60E in my '98 Yukon (Gen II 5.7) and will require a spacer to mate it to the 5.3L

I know about the spacer for the tq convertor and that is not my question. I have posted this in different section and everyone agrees that it is false. I am not going to use a 700r4 and I never asked for that option, my question was never about a 700r4 nor about what transmission I can run. I am looking for a 4L60e, looks like I will just find a 3 piece 4l60e.

To run it off the LS PCM you will need the newer style 4L60E that has PWM stamped inside the bellhousing behind the torque converter.

Sierra is spot on. If it's not a PWM trans it will fry in a matter of hours using the LS PCM. I watched a buddy make the mistake even after he was warned.

In addition to the 3 piece case and the PWM, the 4L60E has seen quite a few updates (for durability) in it's time. Try to get the latest model version you can.

I believe I answered your question and was only suggesting the 700r4 because you said your harness was already modified for standalone operation. I was just trying to give you a little extra, but whatever.
