Default Couple electrical questions

Dealing with an electrical nightmare I am trying to work out...

Anyone know what this should be hooked up to?

looks like the guy that wired that before had it going to the starter.

Also for the starter wiring it looks like the previous guy had a large wire from the positive battery terminal to the starter then the wire from the back of the alternator to the same terminal on the starter and then a wire from the ignition switch to the starter. Doesn't look like he grounded the starter either.

The stud on the back of the alternator is connected to the battery. It sounds like whoever wired it has it connected this way it just has a junction at the starter. This is fine and many times the factory will set it up this way. The small stud on the starter should be connected to your ignition switch to start it. The starter itself gets its ground through the engine block which needs to be grounded with at least a 4 gauge wire. There should also be a few grounds on the back of the heads that go to the coil packs and injectors. Some people forget to connect those grounds and it causes problems.

alright sounds like that is all hooked up right.

Now I am fighting with the painless harness. Looks like there is battery power coming into the fuse block from 3 different wires. Debating on cutting all the wires and wiring the fuse block from scratch.
