99 v6 camaro swap help

99 v6 camaro swap help ok guys...ima need your help with this one...i have a 99 v6 camaro and i wanna drop in the ls1. ok here are some things i know i am going to need.
- ls1 engine and tranny
- ls1 pcm
- ls1 wiring harness
- ls1 k member
- ls1 radiator
- ls1 engine mounts
what else am i gonna need? ive heard of ppl gettin their pcms reprogrammed to work with a vin #? whats that all about? ive also heard i will pay v6 insurance cuz i am using the same vin # and thats all the insurance companies care about.is that true? i would love to do the swap myself but i dunno if im up for it, anyone know of any shops in nor cal that could help? where should i get all the parts needed? i also would like to get the ls6 intake, or is there a better intake? anything else i should do to the engine before its in? how much do u think all this will cost? what about headers? cams? heads? lol sorry, im new to the ls1 and any help is much appreciated. thanks alot

Honestly, your best option would be to sell the V6 car and buy a Z28. Of course it's possible, but if you're going to pay someone to do it, it'll be cheaper to just buy another car.

After you its done, you relize it wasnt that hard. Just alot of work to be done. I swapped my 98 to a 01 ls1/t56. It wasnt cheaper for me to buy a z28 or ss because of the insurance increase. In the past 3 years i have saved over $7000 just in insurance and still will save on insurance since they think its still a v6. I bought a complete package(01motor/trans, accessories, wiring harnesses, and fueling) for $4500 shipped. Then spent another $500 on parts that were broke or missing.
Look on ebay and find some complete packages for sale. Some good sellers are:
AllMustangPerformance-Mustang place but have ls1 packages and Tom will work with you.

fparts-fast and accurate.
After you buy a package let use know what you have and we will tell you what you need. Try and get the motor on the cradle with rack, v6 cradle will not work nor the sterring rack.

I have also done the 99 v6 to LS1 swap. It is a simple swap, plug and play if you use a 99 engine. Some other parts you will need is the pedal assembly, the v6 has electronic throttle as where the ls1 uses a cable. You will need the LS1 fuel pump and the fuel line assembly from the tank to the engine. If you want cruise control and are going to keep it emissions legal you will also need to replace the under hood wiring harness, the V6 harness does not have the wiring for the air pump or cruise. The cruise on the v6 is also electronic.
I part out F-bodies so if you need a engine and the necessary parts, I usually have them available. If you were close to South Carolina I would even do the swap for you.
