Basic Fox conversion questions
Hi All-
I have some basic questions about a fox body LS conversion.
1. Do all v8 Stangs come with the 8.8?
2. Does the 8.8 seem to be strong enough for street / strip applications?
3. Will an 8.8 hold up behind a manual trans and sticky tires (no spool)?
4. What are you guys doing for an a/c compressor? Can the OEM LS compressor be used with the Fox evap and condensor?
5. Finally for now, can the truck accy drive be used (planning on using an lq4)?
I saw a few guys used the fbody inst cluster, any pictures of that installed?
TIA-
John

1. All V8 Stangs have the 8.8
2. Stock 8.8 is plenty strong for street strip duty and good for whatever you wanna throw at it with some better axles and diff. I've been 10.60's on stock 8.8 with 28 spline axles and Ford trac-loc diff.
3. Yes. For how long depends entirely on what power you make in your "street strip" car . . .
4. You can use the LS air conditioning stuff with the Ford but the compressor if mounted low like stock on the GM motor will hit the sway bar. Either ditch sway bar or run an aftermarket compressor/brackets that put it up high.
5. Yes. It's tall and a bit bulkier but works just fine.
Fbody cluster works well in both fox and newer stangs. Speartech makes the harness with the cluster harness already wired in as an option... Below is the cluster in a 00' Mustang.
Search is your friend - tons of mustang swap info if you look...
Good luck.
