Default Quick question about what starter to use.

I've got an 02 lq4 engine, mated to a 98 z28 4l60e. I've got both ls1 and lq4 flexplates. Are these the same flexplates or should I use the ls1 one with an ls1 starter. I wasn't for sure about spacing so thought I would make sure.

I think the starter spacing is the same. Different transmissions can require different flywheels, but I thing the starters interchange.

That was my thought's I just wasn't for sure if the flexplates had different spacing from the flywheel for some reason.

If the LQ4 engine had a 4L80E behind it, I think you need to use the LS1 flexplate. Does the LQ4 flexplate have 6 mounting holes for the torque converter? This is a pic that shows one, with the crank spacer for the 4L80E.

The 4L60E will have 3 holes on a narrower circle.

Flexplates are trans specific, starters interchange freely

4L60E flex has 3 holes and is dished
4L80E flex has 6 holes and is flat. Designed to be used with either the crank adapter or the 99-00 6.0 longer crank flange

To the OP, use the 4L60E flex with your old 4L60E. Remember to take the crank adapter off and use the shorter bolts. If you leave the adapter in place the converter will bottom out too soon and you'll break the trans pump attempting to torque the bellhousing bolts
