would a '97 corvette igniton switch work?

would a '97 corvette ignition switch work for my ls1 conversion instead of using a VATS bypass?

No

You would still need the Body Control Module (BCM) to generate the 5V 50Hz signal needed by the PCM. The ignition module only senses the correct key and sends a signal to the BCM.

Or just make or buy a VATS module.
