Electric fuel pump with Lq4?
Can I use just a stock fuel set up with your standard electric fuel pump for a big block in an 80 Trans Am? I always here people modifying their gas tanks and using special pumps but is there any reason why I can't use what I got? The motor is going to be stock for now so I would like to just get it running for now with what I got so I can save some gas vs my big lifted truck.
Can someone help me fuel this thing?

The issue is uncovering the fuel inlet in a turn or when accelerating with a partial tank of gas. The old carb motors could withstand a momentary loss of fuel pressure since they are sucking fuel out of the float bowls.
Lose fuel pressure for a moment with a FI motor and the engine will go lean, possibly during WOT, resulting in potential engine damage.
FI tanks have some sort of internal sump to keep the fuel inlet covered even with a partially filled tank.
Your options to fix it are first getting a FI specific tank, adding some sort of sump or baffle to the existing tank, adding a second pump and a surge tank, or finally just always keep over half a tank when you are going to beat on it.
The last optiion is the cheap and dangerous option.
