K guys, finally got to it... here's what I did on my 67. Since it's a front mount setup, needed to keep them away from the exhaust as far as possible without plug wires everywhere, these will require 90* coil ends and 90* plug ends and coil harness extensions. Should work pretty dang well I think. Let me know what you all think.
I would worry about water.. unless you don't plan to be in any rain just water in the streets.
But if I recall. that Good Guys Super Nova they gave a way a few years ago.. it had it's coils mount down there or behind the Cross member (after market clip).

This car will not be driven in the rain, period. lol. No windshield wiper motor, no heater, blower, defroster, AC, no ducting, it's pretty much stripped. It's the only vehicle I own that has a designated spot in the 3 car garage, and I plan to keep it that way. I can drive the tahoe or duramax in the rain, but this thing will be on drag radials. =) Thanks though fellas!
One more thought. since they are mounted in front of the X-Member. What about road Kill, unexpected junk, rocks, and them flying beer cans along with anything else that migh get kicked up into them.. Might build a shield for them. ?

Heck of an idea... might just do that... I have the front part of the crossmember that the control arms connect to to protect it from the front but good point... shields would be easy for that.

I recently had to replace 2 coils (pretty sure I dropped them) and I used www.car-parts.com and searched for my donor vehicle. So yards were CRAZY some were great. I found mine exact vehicle take off and close milage 30K $12 @ coil or $10 for all 8. I told them if they leave them on the brackets, I'll take all 8 for $80.oo.
I wanted to have extras so this worked out perfectly.

Anyone know if a company makes a bracket to mount the coils to the side of the block? I'm using a front/mid plate setup.

Some really nice pictures. I also plan to remote mount my coils and to have Olds “looking” valve covers and a factory looking ram air setup like the 69-70 W30 cars had. Not sure yet but probably will mount the coils on the inner fenders and have a fake distributor up top like the stock motors used.
