Default Quick questions about engine wiring

I am modifying the stock 02 truck harness for my LQ4, the harness has three ground wires that got to ring terminals, originally i think two where on the back of the block on either side of the oil pressure sensor but I don't know where the last one was. Is there a science to grounding on the engine like "one ground has to be on a head" or can I just attach them all to the block?

I also want to run the fattest bundle of wires under the intake but I am concerned about heat. will the wires be fine in just the ribbed plastic cover tube thing or should I also add some insulation?

thanks

As long as the ground finds it's way back to the battery.

Best way to do it is ground all the wires in the engine harness to the drivers side head. Then run a nice sized ground strap or large wire (6gauge or larger) from engine to frame. Then run another ground strap from engine to body.

This may seem overkill but most of all electrical problems are ground issues.

thanks for the qick reply, anyone have any thoughts on the wires under the intake? I see it all the time but I have not been able to find a clear statement about what type of protection if any is used.

The wires will be ok just tape them up as there is already a few wires run under there.
