New mechanical speedometer drive solution
Thanks for the responses, Progress is looking real good, I have my speedo and drive motor at my machinist, waiting on the GM cluster to get the adapter finished. I am looking for a Mopar speedo, If anyone has one please let me know.

I own Gene's Speedometer in Milford (Cincinnati), Ohio. I have been reading this thread and have to say I am impressed. It seems like a really cool forum. If you want, I can ship you a Mopar speedometer. I have a bunch of old scrap Dodge speedos. It seems like you are on the cusp of solving a major issue without having to use the dreaded (& outrageously expensive) Cable X. You can call me @ 513.563.4280 (that applies to anyone) if there's anything I can help you with. I'm not trying to drum up business or anything, just enjoy talking about the stuff. I mainly work on newer electronics, but I still have all the old cable driven parts if there are any tips or anything else you need. Again, I hope no one takes this as me trying to advertise, not my intention. Thanks for having me!

Garrett I PMd you. also just an update. I have the motor connected to the 67 Skylark dash. The motor mount is machined out of aluminum and turned out great. I did a test run and its looking very good. Waiting on the electronics, maybe this weekend we can run the motor with the motor controller. I would say we are 85% through the R&D, we will see if any problems come up at that point. I did get a 72 Challenger speedo, looks like it can be done also. I will post pics............
I am anxiously awaiting the outcome! I have a cluster out of an 82-89 Camaro. Not sure if it can be of any use though because the speedo is broken. I wasn't sure if you were looking for clusters for fitment issues or not. PM me if I can be of any assistance.

Got a small video for ya all.
Before anyone comments on the jump at start up its from the 12volt regulated supply I am using. Its probably 50years old and the adjustment **** is very touchy. But here ya go.

Looking great,glad you are getting this worked out.I was pretty sure this could work I just did'nt have the electrical skills to make it happen.This is a big deal to me because I want to run original type gauges in my old cars and do not like the cable x.Ive been looking for a better solution for a while now.Looks you've about got it figured out.Great work Zipster!
I'm impressed with how close you are to finishing this. Wish it was available when I needed it, but now I have installed a full set of electronic gauges instead.

Congratulation!! Looks like that is a hugh success. No way you will hear that over standard road noise. Any heat build up running the motor at low RPMs?
