So far so good. Got the boxes for the electronics, made the blanks for the mounts and the adapters.

I keep changing the speed of the test spedometer. Its now at 50,000 miles. I took it apart to inspect the coupler, everything looks absolutely perfect.

We did do the first test run on the electronics. Had a couple of hurdles, got them sorted out and looking to test again. This is coming along pretty well. Just wish I started it in fall, not early spring.

I'm in no hurry, I still have a lot to do. I want to pull the cluster to check clearance and get a pic of the back of it for you. Perfect your stuff.

I may have missed it, but are you going to make a version that does not need a PCM to work? For those of us running carbs...

Looks awesome btw

Ok, here you go guys. This is what I'm buying. http://www.atrol.com/cablex.htm It's small enough to put it somewhere under the dash and run the cable to the speedo and easy to hook up. K.I.S.S You know what I mean. Don't kill yourself to save a few bucks. Last I checked it was a little over 300.

I found this line in their sales blurb entertaining.
No costly installation of drive gears or long messy cables to deal with.
Do they use magic to drive your speedo instead of a cable which they are famous for?

I still like your version better.

We are looking into it, if you are running a computer controlled auto trans some of the aftermarket controllers do have a 4k ppm output. Our system will work on it. If you have a manual trans we are trying to find a vss that fits and has three wires to give us the signal.

I'm looking forward to a steady needle and a quite speedo. In my case with the box and cable, I would end up with it under the hood or a sharp bend in the cable.

I bought one of the cablex boxes and programmed per their instructions and it sent my speedometer needle to like 800 mph and it broke the needle off. I called and talked to their tech dept. and they verified my settings were correct.

They told me to send them the box and speedo to check it and they did repair my speedo and sent the box back and it just didn't work right still. I think it needs a straight path for the speedometer cable, mine had a very mild 45* bend. I ended up removing the tailhousing off my T56 and had it modified for a speedometer cable and used my old stock cable and it works great, I paid around $350.00 for the conversion and freight. You might want to search for some reviews on the cablex it seems about 50-50 on satisfied and non satisfied users of the cablex, who knows you might be a satisfied customer.

But back to your k.i.s.s. the old tried and true speedometer cable works just fine, and I was able to keep my stock speedometer and dash as that was a major concern for me.

I give these guys props for their ingenuity and tenacity, anytime you can have multiple solutions for a problem the end user wins, as what works great for one person in a certain application may not work for someone else.

Yeah, using a manual trans (T56) with the standard 2 wire GM VSS.

I've been using the cable-x for a couple years now, and it's alright... I guess. This set up looks much better.

Just checking in for a sec - still tweaking and bulletproofing the motor control electronics and logic. On a big push now to lock in the design and move to testing

This looks promising.

If I don't break down and buy $800 worth of Autometer stuff this would be amazing.

The cable x seems like a huge pain in the *** and still have issues. I would rather not have a speedo than drop $300 on something that "kinda works"
