Alternator wiring - diagnosis? Hi,
I'm trying to sort out an alternator wiring question.
The chassis = 944
The PCM = F-body
The Motor/Alternator = '04 GTO LS1
I've searched and read the threads and can't seem to figure out the right combo to get the alternator running right.
Attached is a photo of the wiring I'm currently using. It's charging the battery way to high and it also drains the battery if left connected. The alternator warms to the touch.
Connections:
A - connected to PCM
B - connected direct to positive terminal
Positive terminal connected to positive battery post.
The battery is new, and the alternator is a rebuilt unit I just purchased. Is the wiring itself at fault? Is there something missing from the equation?
Any suggestions on this? Thanks in advance.

Solution to GTO alternator issue Hi,
With the help of a local tuning guru we seem to have resolved the issue...
The GTO alternator does not need to be connected to the F-body PCM.
We've simply connected terminal A on the Alternator (using a fuse-able link) to the + Batt post on the rear of the alternator. Terminal B is left disconnected.
The Alternator now seems to be charging at a normal rate, rather than overcharging. The 944 gauge cluster reads that the alternator is charging, but not overcharging.
I'll leave the battery connected overnight to see if it is still drawing current as it was before.
Early results seem positive.
