Default New Engine Decisions.

ok tell me about a stock LQ4. i know they are cast iron which makes them about 80lbs heavier. they are 6.0L.
are they completely plug and play?
what hp/times do a stock lq4 run?
is $1950 shipped to my door a good price for one thats already rebuilt?

ive been looking for an ls6 however ive only found one and the pice is questionable...
however ive been thinking just getting an ls1...

im thinking about procharging when my suspension and tranny can handle....
thoughts?

remember...there is no replacement for displacement

The LQ4 is a Gen III engine meaning it's 24x. Made from 1999 to 2007. 1999 & 2000 engines will have iron heads. 300 to 325 horsepower and 360 to 370 lb·ft. It should bolt/plug right in with little fanfare. Not much of an improvement over a LS1. And heavier.

I think the best and easiest swap for the LS1/6 is a LS2 from a GTO. It's aluminum, 400 HP and is a Gen III engine with a 24x system just like the LS1/6. Caution: The LS2 engines from Corvettes are Gen IV with 58x systems and will not work with your LS1 PCM.

You may get more/better answers if you posted this in the Generation III External Engine section.
