T5???
T5??? I have seen lots of T56 swaps on here, but I was thinking, for a mostly stock LS1 a T5 would be fine, and I would guess I can get one cheaper than the T56...any good reasons not to do a T5? and and good resources for buying the parts needed to do this swap???

If your talking about a GM T5, it is rated less than 300 Ft/Tq... more like 280ish.. I've blown two of them with my mild 350 power 84 Z28.. But they are cheap.. i usually keep a spare cause i know I will break the next one sooner or later.
If your talking bout a aftermarket one. that is a different story and you should be ok..
But if a GM T5, You can go that route providing you don't plan on abusing your car.
Most will tell you it is going to blow and not to use it.. most likely it will with any good amoount of hard driving.. .. But if your just using it as a daily Drive and don't put your foot in to the Break-it Pedal.. It will live ...

so I guess my answer is Go T56. I don't see the point in spending the extra money to get a built aftermarket unit when a stock T56 will do the job at probably about the same money. and a stock GM unit will break cause I know how I drive and it's not easy!
