68 nova swap exhaust help
Just started a 5.3/4L60e swap in my 68 nova using the BRP mounts and cross member, car had a inline 6 everything went in smooth I didn't even have to cut the drive shaft, now I'm trying to do the exhaust my friend gave me a set of truck manifolds the passenger side fit's perfect but the driver side hits the steering box.I can't really afford to buy headers from BRP right now so I'm looking for a cheaper way to get it going. anybody know if stock camaro manifolds will work? I came across a used set of long tube headers on Craigslist from a 2000 camaro for pretty cheap I'm thinking about picking these up but not sure if they will fit. This was going to be a budget junk yard build but somehow the 5.3 now has a small cam and an LS6 intake any help would be very much appreciated.

I think Headers is the only thing that will work. And No the Headers form the 2000 camaro will not fit. I used a set of Clipster from Patriot only cost like 350.00 and fit GREAT. If you need any more help just let me know i just finshed my 72 nova with a 98 Ls1 swap and 4l60e trans.

Nice job on the install. Others of us have run into the same interference with truck manifolds and the steering box. I heard a friend was able to modify (hammer) a set of the Camaro manifolds to work around the steering box in his '68 Camaro, but I haven't seen the final product yet.
This issue eventually pushed me to upgrade to a Martz front subframe since I wanted front steer location rack/pinion steering anyway...

You could throw in a rack and pinion....that will give you the clearance by removing the steering box....but that will cost you about the same as headers....I actually have a rack and pinion for that car from flaming river sitting on a shelf...
