Default Thinking about puting a ls1 into my 93 mustang?!?!

Ok guys I'm a huge mustang fan, but you can't beat the power of an ls1. It doesn't take alot of money to make them fast as h3!!. So I have been thinking of dropping one in my stang.how much trouble is this gonna be? Not to worried about money. I with to be fast and different. Mostly different.... Just curious on what all its gonna take to do the swap? Wanting about 450 n/a rwhp... Its doable with the ls1.. Thanks for any input.

450 hp with an LS1, impossible, don't waste your time.























Just kidding, search "mustang" or "fox" when you have a few dozen hours to spare.

Mine is 80% complete, going through the wiring in the dash now. Engine harness is done. I went for the extra cubes, check out my photobucket, and pm me if you have any questions.

How long have you guys been working on the swaps? What's the wiring like? That's gonna be my only problem.....

I went with a PSI harness and liek you i was intimidated.....lets just say that was one of the easiest parts of the entire swap.

I have been doing mine for about 3 months with a lot of down time waiting for parts and working out bugs like non fitting kooks headers and redoing my clutch master setup.

Mine has been off and on for a year. At first I was gathering parts and info. I also rebuilt the brakes, suspension, fuel system, changed the interior, and I did all the wiring myself. I happen to be an electrical guru and I wanted my harness a certain way.

the good thing is there are alot of people that are doing this. From just sticking a 5.3 in to twin turbo big motors. there is a lot of help out there.

Dont expect to have it done in a weekend, take your time and stick to a game plan.

If you want something different then an LS1 mustang isnt what you want. They are pretty common these days.

There's at least five in my area not including mine.

Also to the OP, it took me about 5 month to complete my swap. Although I redid the entire brake system, upgraded to 5 lug, rebuilt the clutch packs in the diff., and swapped cams. That stuff added probably a month to my build time. I worked on the car only on the weekends but worked on it 12 hours a day. This is only wrench time. I probably put in another 3-6 hours a day looking up parts, info, specs, etc. Total time I have probably 350+ hours in the car. Most all the work minus stabbing the engine/trans was done by myself and I had a local shop fab my exhaust and a few minor things.
