typical engine swap question.. with a twist!
typical engine swap question.. with a twist! Most people have a project car and want to know whats the best engine to swap.. im the opposite. I already have the powertrain and just need a car/truck to put it in!
i have a lq4 and 4l80E in a 2001 Silverado 2500 w/ aluminum heads. Nothing is really WRONG with the truck, but its beat up, lots of dents ect. And I really want a project. Now i want to do do the swap as cheaply as possible so getting a vehicle that would have the least "$pecial swap parts" in the list would be best. If i can reuse the truck accessories and ect thats a plus! Ive mainly been thinking about either a 68-72 C10 or an fbody, but i want more ideas!

The easiest would probably be something GM that originally came with a small block and a tall hood. That way all your accessories and intake would fit. Trucks are good because the truck oil pan can be used. The sticky at the top of the page "$1500 swap" has good info.

How about another truck? Perhaps a newer short bed single cab silverado? I see those on Youtube all the time making GREAT power and its also pretty practical and fun when you go to the strip and you beat a cobra with a truck 
lol Just a thought...if not...how about a Monte Carlo or something like that?
Edit: Just read more of your post...you said you were looking for a 68-72 C10...forget my silverado idea lol haha. If you can find a short bed single cab C10, then your in business IMO.

Since you're wanting something with the least amount of needed parts, my suggestion would be to find any earlier or later model vehicle that was already setup for efi, and was rwd. You will save plenty of cash by only having to swap a fuel pump instead of piecing together an entire fuel system.
