Test fitting motor Plan to make my first attempt at sliding the LS2 and trans into the 55 Olds this week. Wondered what you guys do once you pull the motor and trans back out. Do you make some sort of wood stand, or do you just set the assembly on the floor?

I made a wood stand because I was too impatient to wait for one to be shipped and didn't want to use up my metal. Doing it again, I'd order a stand that could support the engine and tranny.
Here's what I came up w/ from 4"x4"s.

I just modified the crate the motor came with. Screwed it to a $20 Harbor Freight furniture dolly and added a couple of 2x4 spacers underneath to allow the engine lift legs to slide under.
I probably had the motor in and out over 20 times.
