1996 WS6 LT1383 to LS3
 
Hey guys well I've led the LT1 fight for a long time and I'm finally done. The LT1 blues got to me.

So here's the plan... Off with the LT1/T56 and in with a LQ4 with a LS3 top end/T56.

Nice TA! I let my LT1 car go in April. It was hard, but I needed the money for other things. Hope to have a 2nd gen project with a LQ4/9, LS3 heads/intake and PAT G. cam by next spring. Good luck on the build!

Merv I love your right ups. Soo much detail. I've done this before. I had a 94 formula that I put a LS1/A4 in and converted to trans am looks. I traded that for a 79 TA I'm doing a similar motor in. How ever I just bought one mean ass wicked big cam for this car. Can't wait.

well it's been fighting me but it's out!! LS1 set ups are even easier to pull out! wtf lol I've collected up the big parts already and a HUGE cam so I have to get the pistons fly cut.

Man, I'm on the fence thinking of doing the exact same thing! Haven't pulled the trigger yet on the Ws6 but plan on picking it up next wk and enjoy it 1st before swapping in a LQ9. Definitley will be following your progress. Mind me asking how much the swap has set you back thus far?

It's kinda hard to say price wise. I already have a ls1 trans but I've spent 2500 so far.

Ok took it for a test drive today. Haven't tuned it yet but it's awesome! A couple of small issues I need to address but nothing major. I got a few thumbs up wich is always cool esp. when the car is dirty as hell. But I'll take em. I went to pick up the kid from Basketball practice with it as a suprise. And he comes over and says you brought the Trans Am didn't you? I was like yeah how did you know becuase I never passed the windows and he says well you have the only car that can vibrate the glass like that.

Omg I'm soo tired of the issues lol. So I get the car on a mustang dyno and we spend alot of time tuning the thing getting it close enough to make a pull. And it's running out of fuel above 4000 rpms. I put a new pump on it a year maybe 2 ago. So we hooked up a gauge and sure enough it just fades away above that leaving me with 404rwhp soo far. So now I need to get that fixed before I can finish it.

Any updates on this car? Saw it at the TA Nats this year and never got a chance to see you in person just driving in and out from a distance. Car sounds mean as hell and LOUD!

Wow thanks. When I first parked it on Friday I think about 5 guys stopped me on the way to Check in. It was a good feeling. I finally tuned it after the TA Nats. Yes I drive it there from Cleveland partially tuned. On a mustang dyno in 90 degree 90% humidity I made 425 rwhp. Did you see when the dj stopped me and put his microphone to my tail pipes lol.
