Default Mechanical Speedometers and the 4L80E?
Has anybody been able to make an original cable driven speedometer work on the 4L80E?

A friend is putting a 6.0L with a 4L80 E in a 67 Camaro. He would like to keep the stock gauge if at all possible.

I believe there is an electronic adapter. I was in the same boat with my 70 elcamino. Ended up ordering a fancy digital speedo.

Did you replace the whole cluster or just the speedo?

Im using a thunder racing covan insert. Autometer, AEM, and a digital speedo with a bunch of fun features. I am also using Jake's optishift.

That's exactly what I was thinking...A motor that drives the cable driven speedo. Makes sense.

Since they are about the same price and the guy that owns the car is old school he's going to order the tailhousing kit from Shiftworks.
