1952 studebaker commander swap oppinions
OK I know this will be a bit bias being a LS sight but gonna post it here.
I have a 1952 studebaker command starlight body, and it is setting on a 1990 grand marquis chassis, so it is ford 5.0 powered right now.
I am looking for MPG with a little power.
So my ideas are to use a GM 5.3 v8 with a 4l60, or go with a Ford 3.7 v6 with their new 6-speed auto.
I have done a couple ls swaps in the past into my 77 vette and 85 mustang so I know how to wire the ls to work, but I am thinking the ford motor will get a little better gas mile 31 mpg to about 26-28, and will fit a little bit better.
I am open to all thoughts on this.

My personal opinion is that the LS swap would be a lot more straight forward, espically since you already have the knowlage. Or if your into the whole V6 thing (which is cool also), you could put a direct injection 3.6 into the Stude with a 6 speed auto. The direct injection is just coming into its own and the potential is AWSOME. For what its worth, my 2000 chevrolet pickup with a 4L60E and 5.3 with 200K on it gets almost 20 mpg highway. I would go LS, but im a simple dude. Either way you go I hope you get what you want and are happy with the finished project. But, P.S..............Us LS guys are WAY cooler, lol. Best of luck, Eric L

Thnx for the inputs so far, but again I got the vette and the mustang both ls swapped to go fast. I want to be close to 30 mpg with some getup. Is there any forums on the new GM 3.6 that might be a route to look into.
P.S. Prorac1 that Valiant looks sick!
