Default Move coolant temp sensor

I want to move the coolant temp sensor to the passenger side head and run the sensor for the gague on the drivers head this will fit the way my car is wired better. Has anyone done this or is there any issues with moving the CTS ? I can't see where this would make any difference and would clean up some wireing . Stan

FWIW I've heard that moving the PCM's coolant temp sensor to the passenger head is a bad idea, but I haven't heard specifics on why.

Why?

Coolant in the pass cyl head BETTER be the same temp as the drivers side or you'll have problems

Heat soak in the sensor..there's your problem.

Look up GM part 12551708.

Might affect the reading on a 4th gen f-body where the engine his stuffed in there half under the dash. I don`t think it will matter on a swap car though where there is more room around the motor.

What a load. Its a mercury filled brass fitting, ambient temps do not affect it. The PN listed is quite useful for swaps because the gauge sender is built in, but heatsoak, being shrouded, etc is nonsense

Temps in the passenger side passage are a couple degrees higher. Not that it will matter much. My GM ECT sensor was in the stock location and would read 3-5 degrees lower than my Dakota digital sender. As long as you don't have cooling problems it won't be an issue.
