Default Lsx 1967 Nova swap

Hi newbie here. I can get my hands on a 6.0 out of 2003 hd 2500 pickup. I am not sure if its a lq4 or a lq9. It has a cable for the gas pedal. I am putting this in a 1967 nova with a TCI front clip. I am looking to get 500 hp to the wheels. Would this be possible if it was an lq4. Also this motor comes with full wiring harness and computer. I am new at this and any pointers would be very helpful. Also I didn't buy this motor yet but could get everything for $900. Thanks.

You might double check the year as my 2003 1/2 ton ( built in 3/03 ) is drive by wire, though a 2500 might be different.

900 sounds like a good $ specially if everything is included.

It's prolly a lq4, so shave the heads a lil and use a thinner head gasket to up the compression a lil. A cam and headers and a fast intake should get you close to 500 depending on the combo.

1999-2002 ECM connectors are blue/red. 2003-later are blue/green. it should be blue/red if it's cable-driven. i believe the 2500 only got an LQ4, w/ the LQ9 being installed in caddy's and silverado SS's only until 2004. the General used DBC on vans through 2005, and even the 04 GTO, so it's possible that some early 2003 trucks were cable-driven to use up existing inventory (much like the iron heads that came with my LQ4 from an '01 2500, though they went aluminium that year). Regardless, I don't believe there are any major changes between 02 and 03 other than the throttle actuation systems.

regardless of the year, i'd pull the trigger. you'll love the results. the lq4 is boost-friendly (9.46:1 CR), so 500 whp shouldn't be difficult w/ a blower.

Ok thanks for the great info. What about trannys.
Will a 4l60 hold up to that kind of power? My car is
3200 pounds with me in it. Also will I need anything
Special to make it drive? Thanks again.

If the 4L60E is stock and in good shape, it may hold for a bit if you're not an aggressive driver. The folks around here fry them with 5.7s, nitrous and a heavy foot.

A performance build would be the better route.
