Default How do I figure out what year my engine is??

I have a 6.0L LQ4... how do I find what year vehicle it came from??

Have the dealer look up the engine serial number.

On mine it was etched/stamped on the rear of the block, just below the head surface, drivers side. I say etched/stamped because it is made up of little dots. Maybe made by a laser?
The engine number makes up part of the VIN number of the vehicle.

If you have a set of helms manuals there are instructions on how to decipher the derivative vin on the block to identify not only the year but the exact car it came out of. With that ( and a friendly dealer) you can find out what warranty, and recall work was performed on that engine.
