Default 6.0 harness and PCM, will it work with a 5.3 engine?

I'm actually going to be installing a 5.3 into a denali that is DBC. I was just wondering if the 6.0 harness and PCM will work with a 99-02 5.3 engine?

I'm thinking it should just be a plug and play, but figured I would ask and see. I also think it has the 4l80e trans in this 02 denali.

Yup, it'll work..you will have to adjust the tune for it.

Alright cool, I don't think that should be to bad then. Is it just fueling that is the problem?

I have a 4l80e in my 5.3 06 silverado... could I just swap a 6.0 pcm that has a 4l80e in it? what issues will I run into? or what would be the easiest way to tune it? is it only a segment swap and certain pins that need to be swapped? sorry for all the noob questions to the mechanics that know what they are doing. I just need a bit more understanding.

Digging up an old thread...

Look into what it takes to segment swap that particular PCM. It's moving a couple wires and adding a couple more in for the other speed sensor.

I understand that part about moving the wires and adding the speed sensor.... but a tune.... do I just do it through hp tuners or is there a sct or edge or any hand held tuner I can use or do I have to do it through my laptop on hp?

Hptuners would be the easiest. You could just copy a stock 6.0 file from the tune repository for the engine.

Yup this is laptop stuff, not doing it with a hand held. I know with the older Gen III stuff you needed a segment swap, don't know if with the DBW the factory programming allows you to run either and you just drop the tune in.

Thank you!!! Im taking my pcm to a guy in LA to get it segment swapped and after that he said to take my truck to get my shift points right with him!!!! for $250 not bad! rather do that then buy my own hp tuners and credits for it. the cheapest route for me atm!
