Default ls PCM location in fox mustang????

Hey there guys I am in the process of getting my swap going but I still have a couple questions are you guys using truck PCM's or car PCM's I got an 03 tahoe
PCM and been told that I will have to mount it in the engine bay of my fox in which I think will look very tacky so is this true if not where do you fox swap guys mount yours?
Thanks in advance

I dont have a fox body mustang, but I can tell you, you dont have to mount the pcm in the engine compartment... it just depends on how much soldering and extending you want to do... you can put it wherever you like... where would you like to put it?

in my el co, im putting it inside the truck, behind the ac delete plate...

Pull all of the loom and tape off your harness, cut the wires after marking them on both sides of the cut. Run the harness on the engine in the cleanest way you see fit combining everything into a few major clusters before the big clump runs into the car. Decide where you want to mount the computer. Then the only thing left to do is cut to length and solder and heat-shrink everything back together.

Truck harnesses seem to have a lot more extra wire than the car ones.

I am doing mine inside the fenderwell where the air box was. In our cars there is the hole where the rear brake lines run into the engine bay, perfect place for a harness to route through. I am also going to wire tuck the entire engine bay, and that looked to be the cleanest place to put it. I am going to be using the painless harness with the extra 4' length.

go to lt1swap.com for the pinouts and try it yourself, or send it to him and he will mod it for you for a fraction of the cost... it seemed intimidating, until I jump into it, was super easy....

My computer is where the stock one sat. I extended the harness. I used lt1swap.com for info and schematics. If you are not afraid of soldering wires, just do it.

I'm not familiar with the 93's, was it in the pass. side kick panel? That's where it was in my 95 & I hope to put the new one there. Looks like its gonna be a tight fit.

it sits on top of the box, you do have to remove the a/c tube that provides air for the far right side vent. I can access it with out pulling the dash. I drop my glove box and look inside and there it is. The diagnostic port is mounted to the glove box. Maybe later tonight I can get a pic of it.

right.. I just did mine, and it really wasn't that bad.. take out all the wires you don't need (rear o2, egr, a/c), stretch the harness out so the passenger side is straight, then extend the drivers side..
this put the computer back just over 5 ft from the back of the manifold.

one trick.. the truck injector harness on the drivers side comes in from the front, and you'll want it from the back.. so just swap the 4 wires at the computer so that they lay out the other way..
I cut the 4 injector signal lines (not the power) and positioned the harness, then patched the 4 wires.. then extended the coil circuit the same way.

the alternator and coolant sensor circuits need the same extension.

as I am going back to cable throttle from drive by wire, I had to add the 7 wires for the TPS and IAC circuits, but you have all the wires you removed to do that..

I reused existing wire for everything, only supplying heat shrink and solder.

I use a little butane flame torch for soldering and heat shrink.

I used the lt1swap.com info, watch out for the TPS wiring.. I had them reversed and it thought the pedal was floored..

sam

I forgot I took the blend door off for more room. So its like having your air on the max setting. Fan speed still works.
