Default 5.3 shortblock differances??

Lately I have been seeing alot of 2000-2001 5.3s on craigs list for cheap. Are there any major changes in the shortblock, (ie crank lenght or anything) compared to a newer motor say an 04 or 05. I'm not concerned with cams or anything as those would be replaced.
Thanks for the info.

I believe they put upgraded (stronger) rods and/or rod bolts in '05 and later engines.

GEN III 5.3s are essentially the same. There were a few oddball alum block versions thrown in but the LM7 really didnt change

GEN IV 5.3's got the same flat tops as 4.8's for a bump in compression as well as AFM which most owners hate due to the increased oil consumption

Cranks are unchanged for 5.3/5.7/6.0. Car cranks were gundrilled to reduce weight

There isnt any noteworthy difference to suggest one is superior than another
