Default Aligning the drivetrain

I'm under the car and trying to find the best way to determine where my transmission mount should be (in terms of z dimension - height). I have the original assembly manual for the car which tells me dimensions from the frame to the ground. The frame should be just about parallel wrt the ground. Now how to do figure out where the centerline of the motor and tranny should be wrt that? I thought I had been told that there should be no more than 4* difference. Is the bottom of the oil pan parallel to the crankshaft centerline? If it is, then I should be able to put the tranny mount such that the oil pan is 4* from level when the car is in position, right?

(Keep in mind that this car is body-on-frame with an independent rear suspension and the differential is fixed on the frame so the pinion angle doesn't really change.)

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
